يظن بعض من يستخدم رخصة غير محلية أنه لا يمكن تسجيل نقاط Demerit Points عليه عند ارتكاب مخالفات مرورية، وأنه يمكنه أن يكتفي بدفع الغرامة المالية فقط. ولكن الحقيقة أنه يتم تجميع هذه النقاط وبمحرد حصول الشخص على رخصة محلية، يتم إضافة هذه النقاط على ملف رخصته المحلية! هذا ينطبق على المقيمين في NSW بتأشيرة مؤقتة كالطلبة وغيرهم. لا أعلم إن كان يتم تطبيق نفس الإجراء في الولايات والمقاطعات الأخرى!؟ لابد من الرجوع للمؤسسة المختصة للتأكد من صحة هذه المعلومات وكونها تنطبق عليك، مثلا في https://www.nsw.gov.au/.

Some international drivers, like students and temporary visa holders, think they can get away with making traffic offences and not get any demerit points. This is NOT true. As soon you get an NSW driver licence, any demerit points will be added to your NSW driver licence. I am not sure if the same applies to other states and territories. As usual, you need to check the applicable details in your situation from the relevant authorities in each state/territory, e.g. in NSW: https://www.nsw.gov.au/.
