Do I need private health insurance before my first landing?

Hi everyone...

I am a 190 visa holder and I will land soon in WA Australia, my question is Do I need to apply for private health insurance before landing? or can I wait until after landing and registering with Medicare to apply for private insurance?

what about the time after registering with Medicare and before receiving the medicare card?
