مع نهاية السنة المالية (نهاية شهر يونيو)، يتم اعتماد مشاريع جديدة للسنة القادمة. وهذا يؤدي لفرص عمل جديدة يتم الإعلان عنها في بداية شهر يوليو.

غالبية الأنشطة في البلد تتوقف (أو تكاد تتوقف) ابتداءا من 25 ديسمبر ولمدة حوالي أسبوع، ومن ذلك استئجار المنازل، وفرص التوظيف في غالبية المجالات.

الإجازة الصيفية السنوية للمدارس تبدأ حوالي منتصف شهر ديسمبر وتستمر حتى نهاية شهر يناير. تكون الأنشطة الاقتصادية والإدارية ضعيفة في هذه الفترة، وفرص التوظيف للمتخصصين (كالمهندسين) تكاد معدومة، ولكن فرص التوظيف في بعض الأعمال البسيطة (ما يسميه البعض casual) كخدمة التوصيل والعمل في المطاعم تنتعش.
